Roborough and Dartmoor Turnpike Road                                            (updated 13th Jan 2009)

This trust created in 1812 had a road that ran from the Tavistock to Plymouth turnpike road at Yelverton, to the Prison at Princeton and the cross roads on Dartmoor at Two Bridges. It does not appear as an independent trust in 1840 and so may have passed its responsibilities back to the parishes after the road had been improved.

Known Milestones

In the Milestone Society Database, 4 milestones are identified on the B3212- all in a design known as Dartmoor Tombstone. Based on Trust mileage, would expect 7.

The milestones here are similar to others, on the roads of the Tavistock Trust on Dartmoor. It is possible that these were erected by a Dartmoor Highways Board on the site of older turnpike posts.
